Though sad to know that I will never see a very good friend on this life ever again (Evelyn Subilit Alcontin or "Boleng", UPCN '82 from New Jersey, USA), I am relieved with the fact that our Heavenly Father has taken her under His care to end her pain and sufferings from her illness... will miss a very lovely friend, mother, nurse and co-alumna... thank you for your positive personality, gneerosity to our Alumni Org (UPNAAI)< and warm friendship... will miss you dearly and your smile, and your bubbly personality, etc... to me, UPNAAI Convnetions will never be the same again without you. (Debbie Y. Butuyan)

We pray for Dr. Rodolfo Tamse, husband of Rita Villanueva-Tamse, MN '89, BSN '78, who passed away on January 19, 2017, from his long struggle with cancer. He was a pulmonologist, an alumnus of UP Institute of Public Health, Class 1977, and obtained his M.D. degree from Manila Central University, Class 1982. He is survived by his wife and son Rowen Mikhail. Rita was the prior Deputy Director for Nursing of UP-PGH from 2004-2010, and currently Nurse 7 and Chief, Division of Clinical Nursing Operations and Officer-in-Charge of the Division of Nursing Education and Training.

Our thoughts and prayers are also being offered for the eternal repose of the soul of Ellen Palafox-Yu, BSN '62, after a long and brave battle with cancer. Ellen was born on April 23, 1942 and passed away on March 3, 2017. She worked in UP-PGH for many years. She mentored many of her nurses in Psychiatry and the Pay Services. Staff and those who know her speak so highly of her.

Let us come together to offer prayers and sympathies to Shirley Rodriguez, BSN Class 1979, whose husband Brian Steen, died suddenly on March 23, 2017. They are from Arizona. Shirley has a lovely daughter Vanessa and two handsome grandboys. Brian was a peaceful, soft-spoken, and thoughtful man. He loved his private sanctum of music, reading, writing, and golf. He had deep affection for his wife, daughter, and two grandchildren. He left this world on the same terms he lived his life, peacefully and quietly. The memorial for Brian was held on Saturday, April 1, 2017.
